Sightseeing

As the capital of Unterfranken, Wuerzburg belongs to the most beautiful baroque cities in Germany and became famous as center of the franconian viticulture. Next to many tourists, which cruise from here over the romantic road, 25,000 students enjoy the lively city, which is situated in the Main valley surrounded by vine yards.

There are numerous sights in Wuerzburg, which make it almost unbelievable, that in March 1945 a 20 minute long bombing destroyed roughly 90% of the city. With a elaborate reconstruction program most  of the sights in Wuerzburg were rebuilt. One of them is the Wuerzbuerger Residence, which belongs to world cultural heritage.

The famous landmark in Wuerzburg is the spanking Marienberg fortress, from where you can overlook the whole city. You can also see the pilgrimage church “Kaeppele” situated on an idyllic hill above Wuerzburg.
